Philips HID Kits

Many people think that Philips does not produce HID kits anymore, this is actually false.  People are basing this on the fact that when you go to Philips.com and look under automotive lighting, all Philips shows is Replacement D1S, D1R, D2S, D2R, D3S, D4S replacement HID bulbs.  These replacement HID bulbs are meant for cars that already come with HID from the factory.  When people see this they automatically think that since they do not list after-market HID Kits on their site that they do not exist.  The truth is that on Philips North American site, that statement is true.  The reason Philips does not list after-market HID Kits is because in North America after-market HID kits are not DOT approved.  HID lights are only DOT approved if they are installed at the factory of an automotive manufacturer IE: BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz etc.   Now, if you go to Philips website again and change the country to Australia, look under automotive lighting again and guess what you will find, Genuine Philips HID Conversion Kits.  So why are they listed under Australia and not North America, well Australia does not have strict restrictions on automotive lighting like many other countries do.  Here is the Link to prove that Philips HID Kits do exist: http://www.lighting.philips.com.au/v2/automotive/productrange.jsp?id=1012984#0.

Now Philips only makes their HID kits in certain bulbs: H1, H3, H4 H/L (Bi-Xenon), H7, H11, 9005, 9006, they also only produce 2 colors: 4200K and 6000K, if you ever see a company list a Philips HID Kit in a different bulb or different color, they are fake.
